ABBREVIATIONS

k, knit

Work the stitch twice as follow: work the stitch knitwise, keep it on the needle [carrying the live stitches], and work it again in its back strand. Remove the stitch from the needle. Result in an increase of 1-one stitch.

kfb, Knit front back

Work the stitch through the front strand, pointing the working needle from front to back (away from you), wrapping it with the working thread, and pull through the stitch the new stitch on the working needle. Results in a knit stitch.

k2tog, knit 2 together

Work the next 2-two stitches knitwise into the front strand, as a single stitch. The result is a decrease of 1-one stitch.

k-ktbl, Knit and knit trough back loop

Work the stitch knitwise through the back strand by pointing the working needle backwards (towards you), and wrapping it with the working thread, and pull through the stitch the new stitch on the working needle. Results in a twisted knit stitch.

k-twist, Knit twist

Work in the next 2-two stitches on the needle carrying the live stitches as fallow; insert working needle in the first stitch knitwise, and insert the needle in the second stitch in the back loop; wrap the working yarn around the needle making sure to go through their respective loop. The result is a decrease of 1-one stitch.

k1-3b, knit 1 with 3 bars

Bring the working needle under the 3-three front bars, lift and place them behind the next stitch to be worked. Work that stitch knitwise making sure that the 3-three bars are behind that stitch. The new stitch holds the 3-three bars, in place, creating a textured stitch.

ABBREVIATIONS

p, purl

pfb, purl front back

Work the stitch through the front strand, pointing the needle from back to front (towards you) and wrapping the working needle with the working thread and pull through the stitch the new stitch on the working needle. Results is a purl stitch.

Work the next 2-two stitches purlwise into the front strand, as a single stitch. Results as a decrease of 1-one stitch.

p-3tog, purl 3 together

Work the next 2-two stitches purlwise into the front strand, as a single stitch. Slip 1-one stitch from the needle carrying the live stitches to the needle carrying the new stitches as to knit with the yarn in front of the work. Pass the purl two stitches together over the slip stitch. Results in a centered decrease of 1-one stitch.

sl1-wyib, slip 1 knitwise with yarn in back

Slip the next stitch knitwise from the needle carrying the live stitches to the working needle. The result is an elongated stitch.

sl1-wyif, slip 1 knitwise with yarn in front

Slip 1-one stitch from the needle carrying the live stitches to the needle carrying the new stitches as to knit with the yarn in the front of the work. Results in an elongated stitch.

sl, slip purlwise

Slip 1-one stitch from the needle carrying the live stitches to the needle carrying the new stitches as to purl with the yarn in the back of the work. Results in an elongated stitch.

sl1p-wyib, slip 1 purlwise with yarn in back

Slip the next stitch purlwise from the needle carrying the live stitches to the working needle. The result is an elongated stitch.

sl1p-wyif, slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front

Slip 1-one stitch from the needle carrying the live stitches to the needle carrying the new stitches as to purl with the yarn in the front of the work. Results in an elongated stitch.

sl2-ktog, slip 2 knitwise together (same as ssk)

Slip the next 2-two stitches knitwise separately from the needle carrying the live stitches to the working needle. Insert the needle carrying the live stitches in the front loop of both stitches, and knit them together. Results as a decrease of 1-one stitch.

ssk, slip slip knit (same as sl2-ktog)

Slip the next 2-two stitches knitwise separately from the needle carrying the live stitches to the working needle. Insert the needle carrying the live stitches in the front loop of both stitches, and knit them together. Results as a decrease of 1-one stitch.

sl2-ptog, slip 2 knitwise purl together

Slip the next 2-two stitches knitwise separately from the needle carrying the live stitches to the working needle. Insert the needle carrying the live stitches in the back loop of both stitches, and purl them together. Results as a decrease of 1-one stitch

sl3p-wyif, slip 3 purlwise with yarn in front

Slip 1-one stitch from the needle carrying the live stitches to the needle carrying the new stitches as to knit with the yarn in the back of the work. Work the next 2-two stitches together as to knit. Pass the slip stitch over the knit 2-two together stitches. Results in a centered decrease of 1-one stitch.

Slip 1-one stitch purlwise from the needle carrying the live stitches to the needle carrying the new stitches with the yarn in front of the work. Repeat the previous steps for a total of 3-three slip stitches. Results in three elongated stitches.

twist-ssk, twisted slip slip knit

Work the next 2-two stitches knitwise into the back strand, one stitch at a time. Insert the needle carrying the live stitches in the front loop of both stitches, and knit them together. The result is a twisted decrease of 1-one stitch.

ABBREVIATIONS

yo, yarn over

Repeat [bring the working yarn between the needles from back to front, and over the needle carrying the new stitches] twice. Results in an openwork stitch as an increase of 2-two stitches.

yo-twice, yarn over twice

Bring the working yarn between the two needles from back to front, then over the needle carrying the new stitches. Results in an openwork stitch as an increase of 1-one stitch.

yib, yarn in back

Indicates the posistion of the yarn

yif, yarn in front

Bring the working yarn over the working needle from back to front, then between the two needles to the back. Ready to work a knit stitch. Results in a reverse openwork stitch as an increase of 1-one stitch.
